Group Outings

As part of our activities program, residents at Brittany House are given the wonderful opportunity to join us for group outings around the sights of Napier and Hastings. Every Thursday, Rose and Missy, our dedicated and enthusiastic activities team, gather small groups of residents to embark on these delightful excursions. With Rose serving as our unofficial yet highly knowledgeable tour guide, these outings offer a unique way for residents to immerse themselves in the beauty and charm of our local community.

During these weekly adventures, residents can explore various landmarks, scenic spots, and hidden gems that make Napier and Hastings so special. Rose's insightful commentary and friendly demeanour enhance the experience, making each outing both educational and entertaining. The excursions often conclude with a visit to one of the local restaurants for lunch, a highlight eagerly anticipated by all.

We make it a priority to choose different dining spots for each outing, ensuring that our residents enjoy a diverse range of culinary experiences. This not only adds excitement and variety to their meals but also supports many of our beloved local businesses. Recently, our culinary adventures have included dining at Chinese restaurants and indulging in traditional kiwi lunch of fish and chips, a favourite among many.

Whatever the residents don’t finish during these meals is thoughtfully packed up for them to bring back to Brittany House, allowing them to have the delicious leftovers for dinner. This gesture is something our residents truly appreciate, as it extends the enjoyment of their dining experience. These outings are more than just trips; they are cherished moments that create lasting memories, and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
